We live in a world that is entirely broken.
It feels like Satan is coming at us from every direction, in every shape and form possible. People are always adding gunk to our heart, and we forget that it needs to be removed for us to feel any better.
We are responsible for that gunk and doing what we need to to get rid of it. The people and situations that cause this build up don’t feel the affects of it, only we do. Apologies and even the resolution of a situation cannot bring automatic restoration to our heart. It takes work and a lot of talking to God.
Not everyone you encounter will be as kind and as loving as you. They will take people and possessions in this life for granted, and expect others to tend to their needs without giving anything in return, and it’s up to us to not let these people change who we are.
God says to love everyone and carry no hate in your heart, but that does not mean you have to let other people make choices for you, control your path, or affect your attitude. The world can only change your heart if you let it. You are in control of you, no one else.
There will be people who are lessons and people who are lifers. Keep your corner full of those who love and adore you, the ones who want to lift you higher and watch you succeed, the lifers.
The lessons are just that, only lessons. People who come to us for a season and aren’t meant to stay forever. There is a lesson to be learned, and once it’s complete they won’t be sticking around.
More often than not, we have to accept apologies that never come, that we cannot change other people or how they choose to feel and live, and we cannot make other people choose kindness.
Don’t let the cruelness that comes your way darken and harden your heart. Do your part and remove the gunk. Talk to God, seek to forgive the wrong that has been done to you, and trust that God has something better in store.
