Choose Kindness

Everyday I wake up and do my best to remember to thank God for another morning. Another day with my kids, another chance to do better and be better, another chance to help another person feel joy.

Sometimes the saddest people are those who appear to be the happiest. You would never know they are struggling or have burdens to bear. Their life seems too perfect. They seem untouchable by the forces of negativity and struggle.

Being rude and inconsiderate is easy. Kindness takes work and thought, but it

Most of the time, it isn't because they want to appear perfect, because none of us are. I cannot speak for everyone in these shoes, but what I do know is that when I am sad or disheartened by something I find joy in spreading light to those who see nothing but darkness. If I can bring just a little bit of light into someone's scary place, my heart gets a little stitch in it and I am on my way to healing.

The mind is a powerful thing and cannot always be changed on its own, but if you can change your perspective, even just slightly, it can make a world of a difference.

Being kind to others is such a simple, wonderful way to spread your light. Kindness and helping others doesn't have to be doing something outrageously large. You don't have to give away all of your money or do extravagant things to be kind. Kindness is as simple as lending someone a smile, telling them they are important, lending them your ear, or telling them they make a difference in the world.

When we are sad or down it is easy to thing or feel that those around us should be, too. We focus on our pain and our reasons for being down instead of how we can change our situations while helping others along the way.

The world can be a cruel place, but it takes a special kind of strength to show grace during our most difficult days.

Be a light. Someone who lifts others up. Just don't forget to lift yourself up, too.

You are kind and brave. You are strong and worthy. You are a child of God.

Smile next time you see a stranger and lend them a kind word. You could make their whole week and not even know it.
